Our Story
In 2000, a group of local business owners and community leaders came together with a vision—to create a bank that prioritized local decision-making and personal relationships over corporate detachment. With that vision, First National Bank of Steamboat Springs was born. Five years later, we expanded to Craig, opening our first branch under the name Moffat County National Bank.
In 2008, both locations united under a single name: Yampa Valley Bank. Most of our original founding members remain actively involved as owners and directors, ensuring that our mission to “put the community first and strive to exceed our customers’ expectations” remains our guiding principle.

Yampa Valley Bank is governed by a 16-member Board of Directors in Steamboat Springs and a 12-member advisory board in Craig, all with deep ties to the region. Our 72 local investors bring unmatched knowledge of our communities, empowering us to make lending decisions that directly benefit the people and businesses we serve. This local approach has fueled our growth and success since day one.
